Finishing The Waterproofing and Pouring the Floor

The membrane is the final waterproofing layer before the fill and topsoil is put on top of the house.

A galvalume cap will hold the membrane on at the parapet wall.

This is the garage, but all the interior spaces were covered with plastic sheeting and felt at the wall so that when the floor is poured it will "float" and not adhere to the footer or walls.

This pavement I found at the Sunoco station down the road, I will use it for a garage pad and walkway to the front and door to garage.

Waterproofing, Blocking and Fill

The north side was waterproofed before the fill is brought in.

This is the south side and the meager amount of fill we had on site, the nearby pit closed temporarily and put a halt to the waterproofing process. It should open this week so that the top of the structure can be covered in bentonite, insulation, fill and membrane.

With 12 inch block, they filled in the space around the kitchen window and sliding door at the back of the house.

The separation between the two garage doors and the the two windows at the front of the house were blocked in.

Basic Structure Nearly Complete

Here you can see the completed structure from the back. There will be two triple sliding doors and a window on the far left. This area will be blocked in to form the window area.

The front view without the forms. The earth on the left will be used to cover the structure after it is waterproofed.

This is another view of the back with the terraced rock that will hold the earth in place. I am planting native grasses and a few exotics among these.

I plan to use recycled concrete as "pavers" for the front walkway and back garden area, which will be enclosed in a chain link box. These pieces are from a house that burned down in Inglis.

Here you can see some of the provisions that the plumbing and electric requires. They will be buried to the level of the footer and the the floor will be poured so that is "floats" above and must be poured after the house in waterproofed and covered in earth.

I will have a small pond at the back of the house just below the retaining terrace.

Parapet and Retaining Walls Formed

Here the forms are in place for the parapet across the top of the front of the house and the retaining walls that will hold the earth back on the sides.

A closer view of the front with forms in place.

Third Module Complete, Flat Roof Section Formed

This is the view from the dining/living area. The left opening goes into the entryway and module that will have two bedrooms. The right opening will have a triple casement window.

Here the overhang is being supported while the concrete fully dries. The front door will be in where the narrow opening is on the right.

This is the steel that is supporting the flat roof section (masterbedroom and bath) and the overhang at the back of the house.

Here the form is in place for the pouring of the half module that is the masterbedroom. They will be pouring on the 2/22.

The view from the overhang at the front of the house. There will be a parapet wall where you see the capped steel sticking up. The earth will be retained behind those walls.

Here is the view of the front with the supports removed.

Second Module Poured

The view is from the living/kitchen/dining area looking out the back. The large opening will accommodate the 3 panel sliding door and a large kitchen window. The area in between will be blocked in with cement. The door to the left will go into the master bedroom, which is a half module with a flat roof.

This is the view from the top of the building just before the 2nd module was poured.

This view shows the overhang on the back of the house. There will be a parapet wall that holds the earth back up there.

The two poured modules and the third one, which will be the garage, being formed.

A closer view of the three modules together, the overhang can be seen on the 2nd module.
